Welcome to Tara Mock Piano Studio!

I am so glad that you are here! I enjoy teaching all levels of students from 4 years old and up, including adults! I personalize my teaching style and methods to the individual learning style, personalities, and capabilities of my students.  My expectations of my students are high, but I also enjoy having fun and being flexible in regards to what my students would like to study. I have a very positive and encouraging personality and teaching style and work well with all types of children and adults.  Lessons include not only learning to play the piano with excellent technique, but also theory training, ear training, music history, listening, improvisation, chord charts, lead sheets, and ensemble activities.

As a parent of children who are neurodiverse, I have a passion for teaching children and adults who are also neurodiverse! Please contact me to see if I would be the right fit for you and/or your student! I highly recommend interviewing multiple teachers because I believe that having a good rapport between teacher and student is essential.

I have been teaching private piano lessons for close to 30 years. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Piano (Campbellsville University, KY) and Master of Music degree in Piano Pedagogy (University of South Carolina). I am a member of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association), NCMTA (NC Music Teachers Association), VLMTA-NC (Virtual Local Music Teachers Association of NC), and RPTA (Raleigh Piano Teachers Association).

I teach out of my home studio in the Raleigh area of North Carolina. I am located near the intersection of Interstate 40 and Highway 42 near Garner and Clayton, North Carolina.
